This report analyses the closure of Bristol Zoo Gardens as well as the projections upon which Bristol Zoological Society’s current one site strategy is based. It finds almost all the projections to be exponential, unprecedented and therefore, highly questionable. The report finds that Bristol Zoological Society’s decision in 2020 to sell Bristol Zoo Gardens in Clifton and invest all the capital raised in their visitor attraction in South Gloucestershire was based on limited and sometimes misleading information. Consequently, this led to a deeply flawed decision-making process which now calls into question whether the original decision to close Bristol Zoo Gardens needs to be revisited by Bristol Zoological Society’s Shareholders and Trustees.
